To earn the Sport England-funded badge, you will need to pass the free Knowledge Checks connected to each pillar of learning. The Knowledge Checks will test your understanding of the key principles underpinning each pillar, ensuring that you have a clear grasp of all six.

How to Support a Community as a Member

As a Member, you can support a Community Trust by volunteering your time, donating resources, shifting your spending to local independent businesses, and spreading awareness. Tell your friends, family members and neighbours and encourage them to join too!

Directly Volunteer Your Skills and Time:

  • Skill-Based Volunteering: Offer your professional skills—such as accountancy, marketing, IT, or law.
  • Local Environmental Action: Join community gardening sessions or towpath clear-ups.
  • Spread the Word: Bring your friends and family to volunteer with you and make it a fun event!

2. Leverage Your Spending Power

  • Membership Programs: Participate in corporate or cooperative membership schemes (such as the Co-op Membership) where a percentage of your everyday spending goes directly into Local Community Funds.
  • Support Local Business: Consistently shift your purchasing habits to buy from local, independent shops instead of large corporations.

3. Donate and Raise Awareness

  • Food and Essentials: Make regular, small donations to local food banks and mutual aid groups. You can also connect with charitable needs directly through platforms like Neighbourly.
  • Amplification: Subscribe to organisation newsletters, follow them on social media, and share their stories within your network to boost their reach and visibility.
