Mecca is the holiest city in Islam, located in the Hejazi region of western Saudi Arabia. ·  Every able-bodied adult Muslim who is financially able is required to make the pilgrimage (hajj) to Mecca at least once in a lifetime. Because the city is deeply sacred within Islamic tradition, entry to Mecca is reserved strictly for Muslims.

Whittier, Alaska, where nearly the entire population lives inside a single building and access is cut off when a shared vehicle and train tunnel closes at night:

This 14 storey building which houses almost the entire population of the town houses apartments, a post office, a general store, a church, a health clinic and municipal offices but also has an underground tunnel to connect residents to the local school so children can attend classes without facing extreme weather. Whittier is isolated by steep mountains and water, so is reached primarily by an under water tunnel for cars and trains which shuts every night, locking everyone in.

Peckham Banksy Stop Sign

This sign has been replaced, painted over again, then covered by the council and left:

Kingston upon Thames – Out of Order

Victoria Embankment Watergate - one of London's last surviving watergates. Look at this historic beauty built around 1626. This served as the river entrance to York House the grand townhouse for the Dukes of Buckingham. York House was demolished in the 1670s. Today on the site is Victoria embankment Gardens so the old Watergate is stranded. It's around 100 meters away from the Thames, a little reminder of when the river was much wider.

Bus on a Rooftop

The Bank of England

Turnagain Lane - A river underneath here. It's one of London's 'lost rivers' but this one you can still see. It was covered in the 18th century, but still flows today, underground. The reason behind this strange street name is because the river blocked the way so you had to turn around again. See the circular grid on the floor covering the river.
