Looking east and west from Ladbroke Grove Bridge, the canal appeares calm, with very little disturbance to the water and strong reflections from the surrounding buildings, trees and sky.

Established vegetation along both sides of the canal provides areas of shade and potential habitat, contrasting with the hard surfaces and infrastructure of this heavily urban section of the waterway.

Depending on whether the surface is reflecting blue sky, buildings or vegetation, the same stretch of water changes from blue to greenish-brown
This section of the canal has a distinctly urban character, with residential development and numerous moored boats lining the waterway.
Mature trees and other canalside vegetation provide a welcome contrast, creating shade and potential habitat alongside the built environment.
The canal is very still, mirror-like water, producing particularly strong reflections of the buildings, trees and moored boat. The mature canalside vegetation creates a noticeable green corridor alongside the residential development. There is little obvious surface litter or pollution, although a small floating object is visible in the right-hand photograph.
The canal is exceptionally still, creating an almost mirror-like reflection of the surrounding buildings and clear blue sky. Canalside planting provides pockets of vegetation along this heavily urban section of the waterway. A notable feature of the area is the Queen’s Park Canalside Mural. Freddie Denton was commissioned to paint and incorporates artwork from local schools. The artwork prominently displays the phrases “Ebb & Flow” and “W10”, reflecting the local identity and connection to the canal.

The water remains very calm, with strong reflections of the surrounding buildings and moored boats. The photographs show how sunlight and shadow can dramatically change the apparent colour of the canal. There is little visible surface litter and no obvious signs of significant surface pollution.
