Yesterday (Read it here: 14th Sept 2026) the water at Ha’Penny Steps was predominantly open, green-grey and gently rippled, with no floating material. Now shows extensive bright-green floating vegetation/algal-looking material. The distribution is also interesting: it has accumulated in large mats and patches rather than forming a completely continuous cover, with substantial areas of open water remaining.

This could indicate that wind, boat movement through the patch and local water circulation are concentrating floating material in particular parts of the canal.
